Divemaster ( 8-week course )
The SSI Divemaster program is your first step in becoming a dive professional.! In addition to guiding certified divers, Divemasters get to assist on courses, work on dive vessels and in resorts, as well as teach snorkelling courses. This course expands your understanding of the broad subject of diving and all diving theory. This is an internship-style course, where you participate in the daily life of a busy dive shop. The course includes skills development both in confined waters and open water to the level that you can demonstrate to others. Your training will also cover the safety aspects of being a dive leader. You will learn how to best take care of your customers in a variety of conditions and work with our most experienced instructors allowing you to learn from different teaching styles.
Week 1 Dive Experience
Meet your instructor to complete paperwork and planning your DMT schedule. Then fun dive, fun dive, fun dive until you have a minimum of 40 dives.
Week 2 Orientation + Diving Skills + Assists
Improve your underwater navigation skills up to a professional level. Followed by Assist skills development.
Week 3 - 4 Science of Diving + Dive Guide Theory
Meet your instructor to discuss and learn Dive Guide and science of diving theory. ( Self Study )
Morning dives for skills development and practice. Final Exam ( 98% pass rate requirement )
Week 5 - 6 Course Assists + Skills Development
Start assisting courses with numerous instructors to help you learn skills and develop your own methods and style. You will assist instructors with different skill levels, from zero experience through to advanced.
*requirement: Assist in all courses from Basic Diver through to Stress & Rescue including Specialities.
Weeks 7 - 8 Dive Guide + Dive Briefings
Become a professional dive guide, learning dive guide practical skills, leading fun dives and practising your dive briefings before obtaining your new profession! *night dive lead required

Course requirements
